Fund global health: Save lives and money

Abstract: The Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) equips low and middle income countries with the expertise to contain epidemics at their source, concomitantly minimizing risk of spread to the U.S. Considering the comparative cost of a public health emergency response, such as Congressional appropriations during the Ebola outbreak, the Fogarty budget is overwhelmingly cost-effective.
