The development of a multifunctional material with variety in its properties is a powerful research project. The electrochemical properties of LiCo0.7Mn0.3O2 material have attracted our attention to search electrical characterization and the optical properties of this material. The synthesis of this compound is based on a solid state method. The x-ray powder diffraction analysis shows that the compound crystallizes in the hexagonal system with the R −3 m space group. Moreover, the homogenous distribution of grain is revealed by the EDX study, thus the grain size is about 2.5 μm calculated from the scanning electron microscopy data. The band gap energy was established and seems to be equal to 1.88 eV which confirms the semiconductor character of this compound. Impedance spectroscopy was performed in the temperature ranging from 363 K to 473 K and frequency varying between 0.1 to 106Hz. The Nyquist plots confirm the presence of grains and grain boundary contribution instead of electrode polarization. The obtained conductivity properties indicates the semiconductor behavior of our compound, also it confirms its reliability for electrochemical application. Ac conductivity has been adjusted using the Jonsher power law, which allows us to confirm that the dc conductivity is thermally activated with activation energy of 400 meV and 500 meV for 363–423 K, 423–473 K regions, respectively. Temperature dependence of the exponent s reveals that the conduction process is governed by the correlated barrier hopping model (CBH). Besides, the temperature coefficient of resistivity (TCR) affirmed that LiCo0.7Mn0.3O2 is a good candidate for bolometric applications.

Background: Mycotic keratitis (MK) poses a significant risk as a severe and difficult-to-treat corneal infection with potentially life-threatening consequences. Fungi are commonly implicated as causative agents. Additionally, improper care of contact lenses increases the susceptibility to MK. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the phytochemical composition and therapeutic potential of Senna occidentalis ethanolic leaf extract in the treatment of Aspergillus flavus-induced mycotic keratitis. Methodology: The selected plant extract was tested for antimicrobial activity, analyzed for active ingredients and evaluated in vivo for physiological (Kidney and liver functions), histological (corneal tissue healing rates) and immunological responses (IgM levels). Results: The GC/MS analysis revealed high levels of some active components, including o-methyl glucose, tetramethyl hexadecenol, hexadecenoic acid, and octadecatrienoic acid. The ethanolic extract of S. occidentalis demonstrated potent antimicrobial activity against A. flavus in an albino rabbit model. Treatment with the extract at a concentration of 12.5 mg/ml resulted in a significant healing rate without any side effects, as evidenced by reduced levels of blood urea, creatinine, AST, and ALT in infected rabbits. Moreover, S. occidentalis extract effectively stimulated the immune system, as indicated by increased levels of IgM in both infected and non-infected rabbits. Histopathological analysis of the eye cornea further confirmed the complete disappearance of inflammation and restoration of normal tissue appearance and layer arrangement. Conclusions: These findings highlight the potential of S. occidentalis extract as a safe, affordable, and easily accessible treatment for A. flavus-induced mycotic keratitis, owing to its rich content of safe and bioactive phytochemicals.

Fungal infections are posing serious threat to healthcare system due to emerging resistance among available antifungal agents. Among available antifungal agents in clinical practice, azoles (diazole, 1,2,4‐triazole and tetrazole) remained most effective and widely prescribed antifungal agents. Now their associated side effects and emerging resistance pattern raised a need of new and potent antifungal agents. Lanosterol 14α‐demethylase (CYP51) is responsible for the oxidative removal of 14α‐methyl group of sterol precursors lanosterol and 24(28)‐methylene‐24,25‐dihydrolanosterol in ergosterol biosynthesis hence an essential component of fungal life cycle and prominent target for antifungal drug development. This review will shed light on various azole‐ as well as non‐azoles‐based derivatives as potential antifungal agents that target fungal CYP51. Review will provide deep insight about structure activity relationship, pharmacological outcomes, and interactions of derivatives with CYP51 at molecular level. It will help medicinal chemists working on antifungal development in designing more rational, potent, and safer antifungal agents by targeting fungal CYP51 for tackling emerging antifungal drug resistance.
