“…This is similar to the trend observed by Lan et al for furfural hydrodeoxygenation when varying the P : Co ratio. 42 While Co 2 P/SBA-15 has the highest initial ethylene STY, it also has the highest rate of deactivation. This can be seen from the loss in the ethylene STY with time shown in Fig.…”

“…The decarbonylation of an aldehyde compound R–(CO)–H over transition metal phosphide catalysts leads to the formation of CO, atomic hydrogen (H – ), and the deoxygenated fragment R – , the reaction culminating with the formation of the saturated deoxygenated product R–H . The direct release of oxygen from aldehydes through decarbonylation does not require hydrogen in the reaction medium.…”

“…The furfural decarbonylation without adding hydrogen has been studied over catalysts based on noble and transition metals, , giving furan as the main reaction product, as observed in Figure . The chemical route when hydrogen is present produces the initial formation of furfuryl alcohol and the further release of oxygen through dehydration, , as proposed in Figure .…”

“…Results showed that high temperature and amount of Ni loading facilitated the conversion of furfural and a total yield above 85% for furan and 2-methylfuran was reached at 260°C and at the methanol-towater ratio of 2:1. More recently, Lan et al [28] explored furfural HDO using SiO 2 -supported nickel phosphide catalysts. It was found that the improvement of P content on the catalysts weakens the furanring/catalyst interaction, which led to a decreasing activity of ring-opening and ring-hydrogenation reaction.…”
