Further Psychometric Properties of the Tourette?s Disorder Scale-Parent Rated Version (TODS-PR)

Abstract: This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Tourette's Disorder Scale-Parent Rated (TODS-PR), a 15-item parent-rated instrument that assesses a range of common symptoms seen in childhood Tourette's Disorder (TD) patients including tics, obsessions, compulsions, inattention, hyperactivity, aggression, and emotional disturbances. Participants were 67 children and adolescents ages 6-17 years who were diagnosed with TD and/or OCD and seen as a part of a larger study. Confirmatory factor analyses suppor… Show more

“…50 In addition, the four-item TODS-PR OCD Factor score correlates significantly with the CY-BOCS Total Score, Obsession severity score, and Compulsion severity score, as well as the Clinical Global Impression (CGI) 51 scale. However, the four-item TODS-PR OCD Factor scale also correlates significantly with depressive symptoms (p < .001).…”

“…In fact, factor-analytic studies have supported the presence of an OCD factor in addition to the factors representing Aggression, ADHD, and Tics. 13,50 However, the studies found discrepant results with regard to the composition of this factor, and further research is needed to confirm the underlying factor composition. The TODS-PR can be completed by parents in approximately 5 min.…”

“…Psychometric properties are reviewed in detail above. For this study, the four-factor subscales (i.e., Tics, OCD, ADHD, and Aggression subscales) identified by Storch et al [17] were utilized for analyses. The TODS total score reflects a quick measure of global distress across dimensions most commonly seen in children with tic disorders.…”

“…Two psychometric studies have been published on the TODS thus far--one on both the TODS-CR and TODS-PR [16], and one on the TODS-PR only. [17] A four-factor model has been identified with factors named Aggression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Tics. [16,17] The TODS Total Score has demonstrated excellent internal consistency (a = 0.92 for the TODS-PR, a = 0.93 for the TODS-CR) and sensitivity to treatment changes.…”
