Several ocular modalities have been proven to serve as biometric indicators. Among all ocular traits, iris is considered to provide highly reliable recognition performance. However, several challenges exist in iris recognition under uncontrolled scenarios. In such situations, periocular information could be of benefit due to its ease of acquisition and matching. The goal of this chapter is to provide an overview of periocular recognition and the progress made over the past few years. Other ocular biometric traits such as retina, iris, and conjunctival vasculature are also discussed.
