Fuzzy Fractional Order Sliding Mode Control for Automatic Clutch of Vehicle AMT

Abstract: The automatic clutch driving system of vehicle automated manual transmission (AMT) is a typical nonlinear system. A fast and accurate position control is difficult to achieve because of the nonlinearity of the load changes caused by the clutch diaphragm spring, the cushion spring, and other nonlinear components and because of the uncertainty of the load changes caused by the cushion spring deformation in the clutch engagement process at varying temperatures on the friction surface. In this paper, based on the … Show more

“…The advantages of FrSMC and FLC have been combined and applied to QCSD to enhance its performances, thus weakening the chattering, maintaining the robustness characteristics of the traditional SMC [22]. To design the FrFSMC, the same design procedures in FrSMC are followed.…”

“…Fractional order SMC (FrSMC) [18] is used for antilock braking systems [19] and modified quadruple tank process design [20]. The Fractional order FSMC (FrFSMC) is designed and its effectiveness in the non‐linear system [21] and an automatic clutch of a vehicle [22] are analysed. In this paper, FrFSMC is proposed to reduce the vibration for the quarter car with driver model and Dual Actuator (DA).…”

“…For nonlinear controllers, such as sliding mode controllers (SMC), fractional calculus was introduced in the sliding surface by taking the fractional order derivative and/or integral of the state variables [20]- [27]. Hybridization between fuzzy logic and fractional order sliding mode control can be achieved, where the resultant controller is called Fuzzy fractional order sliding mode controller (FFOSMC) [28]- [32]. All the previously mentioned works and other works in the literature lack the investigation of the effect of introducing complex fractional calculus into control action.…”
