Fuzzy‐sliding mode control of nonlinear smart base‐isolated building under earthquake excitation

Abstract: In this paper, the effectiveness of the fuzzy sliding mode control strategy on three-dimensional benchmark building with smart base isolation under seismic excitation has been examined. One of the appropriate control theories for such this nonlinear system is the sliding mode control theory; discontinuous sliding mode theory has weakness such as chattering phenomena. In this paper, we used a combination of fuzzy logic and sliding mode theory for the deletion of this defect. The proposed control theory has been… Show more

“…While in the horizontal direction, isolation rubber bearings were simulated by link element, and the Bouc-Wen model was used. [24,25] The Bouc-Wen model are shown in the Equations 1 and 2, where k is initial stiffness of rubber bearing before yielding; F y is yield force of rubber bearing; γ is ratio of tangent stiffness after yielding to initial elastic stiffness; s is parameter determining the shape of yield position curve; α and β are parameters 2 and 3, respectively. Based on the parameters in Tables 2 and 3, the specific parameters for Bouc-Wen and parallel element could be defined.…”

“…At the same time, most time series models take the improvement of forecast accuracy as the only goal. However, in practical problems, not only does the model need to predict correctly, but the model data is also transparent, which can explain the forecast results [9].…”

“…Due to reducing the structural responses and repelling the destructive effects on different elements of structure, the use of dampers is inevitable. [ 1–3 ] Some dampers are used for the control of the responses of structures such as TMD dampers. [ 4–7 ] These types of dampers work by frequency and can help decrease the responses of the structures.…”
