GADRAS Detector Response Function.

Abstract: The Gamma Detector Response and Analysis Software (GADRAS) applies a Detector Response Function (DRF) to compute the output of gamma-ray and neutron detectors when they are exposed to radiation sources. The DRF is fundamental to the ability to perform forward calculations (i.e., computation of the response of a detector to a known source), as well as the ability to analyze spectra to deduce the types and quantities of radioactive material to which the detectors are exposed. This document describes how gamma-ra… Show more

“…These measured spectra, and example spectra of 227 Ac, 227 Th, 223 Fr, and 223 Ra (with its daughters) are displayed in Figure 3A–3F, where example spectra were generated calculated using GADRAS (Mitchell, 1992) and previously determined detector response models. In these Figures the live-time corrected background has been subtracted from the measurement.…”

“…High fidelity simulations of detector response to mixed neutron and gamma radiation fields has important applications in the optimization and design of measurement systems and the interpretation of observed spectra [1]. The conversion of a flux incident on an active detector volume into a realistic energy spectrum is facilitated by Detector Response Functions (DRFs).…”
