Abstract:This paper investigates the influence of combined fast external excitation and fast parametric damping on the amplitude and the onset of galloping of a tower submitted to steady and unsteady wind flow. A lumped single degree of freedom model is considered and the cases where the turbulent wind activates either external ex-citation, parametric one or both are studied. The methods of direct partition of motion and the multiple scales are used to drive a slow dynamic near primary resonance. The influence of the c… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
