“…In principle, gallstone ileus requires treatment intervention since the disease condition improves naturally in only 4–8% of cases. The goal of intervention is to cure ileus by removing stones from the intestinal tract, which is achieved mostly by surgical intervention, but the use of an endoscope [ 16 27 ] and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy [ 28 31 ] has also been reported.
