Game-Theoretic Principles of Decision Management Modeling Under the Coopetition

Abstract: The paper considers the two main game-theoretic models, such as coalition and cooperative. The authors are of the opinion that definitions and notions of cooperative games and coalition games are different, but both games are coopetitive games. Transitivity and superadditivity are presented as the main characteristic functions of coopetitive games. The individual and collective rationality were identified as unconditional requirements for the optimal distribution between players. Furthermore, the additional in… Show more

“…In this regard, Le Roy et al ( 2018 ) contend that, together with network theory, resource-based theory, and capabilities-based theory, game theory contributes to an optimistic perspective or view of competition. In fact, one of the core postulates of game theory is that the best partner in a business is a competitor, which implies that both collaboration and competition with such a partner provide a suitable positive-sum game (Heiets et al 2021 ).…”

“…Just like game theory, coopetition is a process requiring continuous decisions which lead to mutual transformation (Zhao et al, 2015). In coopetition, game theory suggests that the best business partner is a competitor, who both collaborates and competes to provide a suitable win-win strategy by pursuing new markets, despite imperfect information (Feng, 2018;Heiets et al, 2021;Ozkan-Canbolat et al, 2016). The theory demonstrates how competition and cooperation are aligned to jointly create advantages which an individual firm would ordinarily not achieve.…”

“…These results support existing literature on competition in terms of the possibility of reduced profitability due to new agile entrants with different capabilities and service offerings. The literature shows that competition leads to a win lose situation as explained in the prisoner's dilemma which posits a win-lose situation for players (Heiets et al, 2021). Competition has advantages.…”

“…Game theory is a mathematical approach to model the decision-making process in cooperative or conflicting situations (Karabiyik et al, 2020;Lucas, 1972). It assumes that a competitor can be the best partner in a competitive market environment (Heiets et al, 2021). There are two types of game theory for decision-making: cooperative and non-cooperative games (Mirzaei-Nodoushan et al, 2022).…”
