Abstract: Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a clinical syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia due to absolute or relative deficiency of insulin. It is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in adults worldwide, posing serious medical, socioeconomic, and rehabilitation problems.
