Gas sensing properties of multiwall carbon nanotubes decorated with rhodium nanoparticles

Abstract: International audienceIn the present work, multiwalled carbon nanotubes were decorated with rhodium nanoparticles using a colloidal solution in the post-discharge of an RF atmospheric plasma of argon (Ar) or argon/oxygen (Ar:O 2). The properties of these hybrid materials towards the room temperature detection of NO 2 , C 2 H 4 , CO, C 6 H 6 and moisture were investigated and discussed in view of compositional and morphological studies. It was found that the presence of oxygen in the plasma treatment is essenti… Show more

“…A high thermal conductivity and particles with good mechanical properties, such as carbon, metals, or graphite, should added to microPCMs. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have an excellent thermal conductivity and mechanical and electrical properties . Thus, CNTs are beneficial for enhancing the heat‐transfer and mechanical performance of microPCMs.…”

“…Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have an excellent thermal conductivity and mechanical and electrical properties. [20][21][22] Thus, CNTs are beneficial for enhancing the heat-transfer and mechanical performance of microPCMs. Li et al 23 found that the thermal conductivity of microPCMs/ CNTs grafted with stearyl alcohol with 4% CNTs increased by 79% compared with microPCMs.…”

“…A review of the literature points out that fabrication methods are known and described of a nanocomposite based on carbon nanotubes and rhodium nanoparticles using a plasma generator [14], chemical reduction using NaBH 4 of relevant compounds, mainly salt, being the precursors of selected metals [15], i.e. electrodesposition of metallic nanoparticles onto carbon nanotubes [16].…”
