Abstract:Cells have evolved intricate mechanisms for recognizing and responding to changes in oxygen concentrations. Here, we have manipulated cellular hypoxia (low oxygen) signaling via gas tunnel engineering of prolyl hydroxylase 2 (PHD2), an iron-dependent oxygen sensor.
