Gastrointestinalni tumor zeluca (GIST) kao uzrok masivnog krvarenja iz gornjih partija digestivnog trakta

Abstract: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors GIST are rare mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by expression of a receptor that activates tyrosine kinase called C- kit. Since malignant GIST has an extremely poor prognosis even after surgical resection. The developement of a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, STI571/imatinib mesylate/Gleevec, Glivec which inhibits the BCR-ABL, PDGF-R alpha, and C-Kit receptors, has changed the management of unresectable malignant GIST and has improved the survival of pati… Show more

“…In most cases in the stomach, GISTs show the appearance of a submucosal tumor, with a broad base and smooth surface within normal gastric mucosa, and sometimes have central ‘delle’ or depression [5,6]. In larger cases, central ulceration or necrosis presenting with gastrointestinal bleeding are also observed [7,8]. The GIST of the stomach described in this report was a rare case, with narrow stalk-like based, uneven protruding mass presenting with severe acute anemia despite small size.…”
