gdbOF: A debugging tool for OpenFOAM®

Abstract: OpenFOAMR libraries are a great contribution to CFD community and a powerful way to create solvers and other tools. Nevertheless in this creative process a deep knowledge is needed concerning with classes structure, for value storage in geometric fields and also for matrices resulting from equation systems, becoming a hard task for debugging. To help in this process a new tool, called gdbOF, attachable to gdb (GNU Debugger) is presented in this paper. It allows to analyze classes structures at debugging time. … Show more

“…One shaped as the A-A ′ cut and length 19 cm, the other one shaped as B-B ′ and length 10.37 cm. The agreement between our computations and the measurements is remarkable, and comparable to the computations on the three-dimensional domain reported in [18]; where meshes with almost four million elements were needed.…”

“…From these steps, it is clear that the correct calculation of the flux and its treatment along the solving algorithm plays a central role in the successful implementation of the solver. Because the presented algorithm is not available in the OpenFOAM ® suite, it was programmed starting from VOF solver and using the gdbOF debugging tools .…”
