Gender Differences in the Level of Achievement of Gymnastic and Acrobatic Skills

Abstract: Physical education should provide the opportunities to progressively integrate motor tasks with different levels of complexity from early ages to adolescence. “…Increasing the range of motion (ROM) through stretch training is applied in a wide field of sports practice (Angioi, Metsios, Koutedakis, & Wyon, 2009;Ávalos-Ramos & Vega-Ramírez, 2020;Cejudo et al, 2020b), injury prevention (Backman & Danielson, 2011;Gergley, 2013;Padua et al, 2019), and rehabilitation (Kim, Kim, Kim, & Kim, 2018). However, apart from known increases in ROM, the literature shows conflicting results regarding the acute effects on strength capacity which are possibly linked to difficulties in the quantification of the stretching stimulus.…”

“…Gymnastic skills are complex and require very good neuromuscular coordination as well as longer training time and a lot of experience to master them. It has been shown that gymnastics can become an instrument for enhancing the motor skills of children and adolescents, but this is a longlasting endeavour, an aspect that needs to be taken into account (Ávalos-Ramos & Vega-Ramiréz, 2020).…”
