Gene Expression Profile Analysis of Human Epidermal Keratinocytes Expressing Human Papillomavirus Type 8 E7

Abstract: Background: Human papillomavirus type 8 (HPV8) has been implicated in the progress of non-melanoma skin cancers and their precursor lesions. The HPV8 E7 oncoprotein plays a key role in the tumorigenesis of HPV-associated cutaneous tumors. However, the exact role of HPV8 E7 in human epidermal carcinogenesis has not been fully elucidated. Methods: To investigate the potential carcinogenic effects of HPV8 E7 on epithelial cells, we used RNA-sequencing technology to analyze the gene expression profile of HPV8 E7-ov… Show more

“…Besides the above cancer drivers, a plethora DMPs, such as HKDC1 and SEMA3E , are associated with survival differences across clusters. Up-regulation of HKDC1 can be triggered by the overexpression of HPV8 E7 protein [66] , implying a potential regulatory linkage between HPV infection and HKDC1 gene expression. Moreover, HKDC1 has been reported to be expressed in multiple cancers and proposed as a favorable prognosis biomarker in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma [55 , 56] .…”

“…Skin cancer is increasing in terms of morbidity and mortality [2]. Factors for increased ultraviolet light exposure [3], genetic factors [4], unhealthy lifestyles [5], and inflammation of the human papillomavirus [6] can be a cause for the appearance of skin cancer.…”
