Gene mining-based identification of aldo–keto reductases for highly stereoselective reduction of bulky ketones

Abstract: Background: Aldo-keto reductase (AKR) or alcohol dehydrogenases (ADH)-mediated stereoselective reduction of prochiral carbonyl compounds is an efficient way of preparing single enantiomers of chiral alcohols.
