Generalised U-dual solutions via ISO(7) gauged supergravity

The connection between two recent descriptions of tensor hierarchies — namely, infinity-enhanced Leibniz algebroids, given by Bonezzi & Hohm and Lavau & Palmkvist, and the p-brane QP-manifolds constructed by Arvanitakis — is made precise. This is done by presenting a duality-covariant version of latter.The construction is based on the QP-manifold T⋆[n]T[1]M × ℋ[n], where M corresponds to the internal manifold of a supergravity compactification and ℋ[n] to a degree-shifted version of the infinity-enhanced Leibniz algebroid. Imposing that the canonical Q-structure on T⋆[n]T[1]M is the derivative operator on ℋ leads to a set of constraints. Solutions to these constraints correspond to $$ \frac{1}{2} $$ 1 2 -BPS p-branes, suggesting that this is a new incarnation of a brane scan. Reduction w.r.t. to these constraints reproduces the known p-brane QP-manifolds. This is shown explicitly for the SL(3)×SL(2)- and SL(5)-theories.Furthermore, this setting is used to speculate about exceptional ‘extended spaces’ and QP-manifolds associated to Leibniz algebras. A proposal is made to realise differential graded manifolds associated to Leibniz algebras as non-Poisson subspaces (i.e. not Poisson reductions) of QP-manifolds similar to the above. Two examples for this proposal are discussed: generalised fluxes (including the dilaton flux) of O(d, d) and the 3-bracket flux for the SL(5)-theory.

Y-algebroids and E7(7) × ℝ+-generalised geometry

We define the notion of Y-algebroids, generalising the Lie, Courant, and exceptional algebroids that have been used to capture the local symmetry structure of type II string theory and M-theory compactifications to D ≥ 5 dimensions. Instead of an invariant inner product, or its generalisation arising in exceptional algebroids, Y-algebroids are built around a specific type of tensor, denoted Y , that provides exactly the necessary properties to also describe compactifications to D = 4 dimensions. We classify “M-exact” E7-algebroids and show that this precisely matches the form of the generalised tangent space of E7(7) × ℝ+-generalised geometry, with possible twists due to 1-, 4- and 7-form fluxes, corresponding physically to the derivative of the warp factor and the M-theory fluxes. We translate the notion of generalised Leibniz parallelisable spaces, relevant to consistent truncations, into this language, where they are mapped to so-called exceptional Manin pairs. We also show how to understand Poisson-Lie U-duality and exceptional complex structures using Y-algebroids.

Drinfel’d double of bialgebroids for string and M theories: dual calculus framework

We extend the notion of Lie bialgebroids for more general bracket structures used in string and M theories. We formalize the notions of calculus and dual calculi on algebroids. We achieve this by reinterpreting the main results of the matched pairs of Leibniz algebroids. By examining a rather general set of fundamental algebroid axioms, we present the compatibility conditions between two calculi on vector bundles which are not dual in the usual sense. Given two algebroids equipped with calculi satisfying the compatibility conditions, we construct its double on their direct sum. This generalizes the Drinfel’d double of Lie bialgebroids. We discuss several examples from the literature including exceptional Courant brackets. Using Nambu-Poisson structures, we construct an explicit example, which is important both from physical and mathematical point of views. This example can be considered as the extension of triangular Lie bialgebroids in the realm of higher Courant algebroids, that automatically satisfy the compatibility conditions. We extend the Poisson generalized geometry by defining Nambu-Poisson exceptional generalized geometry and prove some preliminary results in this framework. We also comment on the global picture in the framework of formal rackoids and we slightly extend the notion for vector bundle valued metrics.
