Generating bioactive and antiseptic interfaces with nano-silver hydroxyapatite-based coatings by pulsed electrochemical deposition for long-term efficient cervical soft tissue sealing

Abstract: Infections related to osseointegrated implants have sparked the interest in studying titanium modification for long-term effective soft tissue sealing. The silver (Ag)- Hydroxyapatite (HA) composite is regarded as an effective...

“…Simon et al reported that, in iron–sodium phosphate-based glass, the decrease in binding energy denotes the increase of electronic state density around phosphorus atoms. Similarly, the lower binding energy (∼132.54 eV) in the E-Si biomaterial shown by P 2p 3/2 spectra recognizes that P bonded to the oxygens in (PO 4 ) 3– groups and shows that the number of P–O – state may be higher . Meanwhile, the binding energy of P 2p spectra increases when electron density decreases around the P atom and results in PO bonds and Si–O–P/P–O–P linkages.…”

“…The success rate of Ti dental implant surgery can reach over 90%, but there are still about 10% failures . The key that determines the success of Ti implants is the effective osseointegration. In addition, improving the antibacterial properties of the implant and suppressing peri-implant inflammation are also important factors for the success of the surgery. Osteogenesis requires osteoblasts to adhere and grow on the surface of the implant. And the occurrence of inflammation is mostly related to bacterial adsorption and biofilm formation on the surface of implants. All of the above processes are closely related to the surface conditions of Ti implants. However, during the Ti implant manufacturing process, if the overall material is changed to achieve good surface conditions, the overall performance of the implant may be seriously affected.…”
