“…Other reports unravel the use of CDs as co-initiators and catalysts. Some examples include free radical frontal polymerization, controlled light-mediated radical polymerization, and co-catalyzed polymerization [20][21][22][23]. Polymers with amino functional groups, such as polyaniline, polypyrrole, and poly (4,4 -diaminodiphenyl methane), were synthesized by CDs under UV light as an initiator [24,25].…”

“…Our group proposed a high‐efficiency ammonium persulfate (APS)/CD redox initiator couple for the frontal polymerization of vinyl monomers to rapidly prepare fluorescent hydrogels (Figure 3 A). Particularly, the existence of CDs enabled the polymerization to operate at a lower temperature [82] …”

“…Particularly,t he existence of CDs enabled the polymerization to operate at alower temperature. [82] As regards CDs as electron donors,J iang et al exploited P-and S-doped CDs as ac lass of novel and effective metalfree photocatalysts for the visible-light-regulated reversible addition-fragmentation chain-transfer (RAFT) polymerization of acrylate monomers.A ss hown in Figure 3B,C Ds are excited under irradiation with mild visible light to produce electron-hole pairs,a nd then generate the RAFT agents by reduction through charge-transfer reactions.T he reduced RAFT agents serve as both the initiators for creating radicals and the degenerative chain-transfer agents.T he generated radicals trigger the polymerization and reversibly mediate chain growth. Concurrently, they might be deactivated by the oxidized CDs to regenerate the ground-state CDs.F or example,t he resultant PMMA exhibited temporal control, low dispersity (1.04), high monomer conversion (86 %), and chain-end fidelity.…”
