Genetic and Population Analyses of Vibrio Parahaemolyticus Isolates from Three Major Coastal Regions in China

Abstract: Aim:This study aims to evaluate the genetic and population structure of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in the major coastal regions of China.Materials & methods:Multilocus sequence typing was performed. Results:Insertion of large sequence into recA happened in nearly 30 strains, which were untypeable by multilocus sequence typing. A collection of 307 V. parahaemolyticus isolates were typed into 160 sequence types, including 117 novel ones. eBURST analysis revealed five clonal complexes, 11 doublets, and 108 singletons… Show more

“…21 V parahaemolyticus isolated from 3 main water areas in China has different genetic diversity and population structures. 20,22 Based on the analysis using WGS, there were differences in the pathogenicity of V parahaemolitycus in various aquatic environments resulting from the combination of horizontal genome transfer, pathological distribution elements. 11,13,18 V. parahaemolyticus was also found to cause death in shrimp due to acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease.…”

“…The recA gene of two strains (19-VB00022 and 19-VB00023) contained insertions within the 3' coding region of the recA gene, so only 404 bp instead of 462 bp of the recA gene were used for the construction of all concatemers (truncation of 3' sequences of recA). Insertions into coding regions of recA genes were also observed in a number of V. parahaemolyticus strains [29] and make it impossible to assign an allele number and sequence type for those strains.…”
