“…Although meta-analyses have not found a clear association between the Val158Met COMT polymorphism and vulnerability to schizophrenia (Fan et al, 2005;Munafo et al, 2005;Okochi et al, 2009), it is possible that it might still be related to schizophrenia as a disease modifying gene (Fanous and Kendler, 2005), via the putative intermediate phenotype of impaired cognitive function in the disorder.
