Genetic markers of canine hip dysplasia

Abstract: Postęp genomiki zwierząt domowych, możliwość prowadzenia szerokich porównawczych analiz genomowych oraz powszechna dostępność nowoczesnych narzędzi i technik molekularnych (np. mikromacierze SNP, sekwencjonowanie DNA nowej generacji) zaowocowały identyfikacją wielu mutacji odpowiedzialnych za monogenowe choroby psów (24). Z kolei wiedza o podłożu molekularnym często występujących u psów chorób lub wad o złożonym uwarunkowaniu (np. otyłość, cukrzyca typu 2, dysplazja stawu biodrowego lub łokciowego, wnętrostwo)… Show more

“…It was first described by Schnelle in 1935 and since then it has continued to pose challenges from both surgical and conservative treatment perspectives. Hip dysplasia is considered to be a polygenic and multifactorial developmental disease (19). Affected dogs are born with a healthy hip joint conformation, but the laxity of the supporting soft tissue leads to progressive femoral head subluxation and incongruity.…”
