Genetic relationships of 34 grapevine varieties and construction of molecular fingerprints by SSR markers

Abstract: In order to protect and promote the effective differentiation and rational utilization of grape germplasm resources, 34 grapevine varieties were selected from the National Germplasm Resources, Taigu Grape Nursery in China: 12 wine grapes (Group I), 14 table grapes (Group II) and 12 seedless grapes (Group III), 4 of which were in Group II, too. For the purpose of genetic characterization, 15 pairs of SSR (simple sequence repeat) primers were used. Sixty-six alleles were generated among Group I, including 64 pol… Show more

“…The vineyard soil pH is 7.8. The average annual temperature in this region is 10.6 • C, annual sunshine duration is 2300 h, annual rainfall is 400-600 mm, frost-free period is 160-180 days, and effective accumulative temperature is 3675 • C [104]. The vines were planted in north-south orientation, with 0.8 m between individuals in a row and 2.5 m between rows.…”

“…No M. rotundifolia-based SSR or EST-SSR markers were developed for this genus however other more suitable primer sets are available (Riaz et al, 2008). The development of other primers (Picq et al, 2014;Dong et al, 2018;etc. ) linked to aspects of resistance, phenology or environmental adaptation may also be of interest for further population genetic analysis of local Vitis.…”

“…The comparison of the SSR obtained was performed using a microsatellite toolkit v. 9.0 software [ 43 ]. Lastly, the microsatellite genotypes obtained after the analysis were compared to the genetic profiles given by Jiménez-Cantizano et al [ 30 ] and Lacombe et al [ 31 ], and to the data contained in European grapevine database of microsatellite profiles VIVC [ 21 ].…”

“…Nuclear microsatellite markers or simple sequence repeat (SSR) have been widely used to identify and genotype grapevine cultivars [ 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 ]. In addition, the combination of genetic (microsatellite markers) and ampelographic methods allows the correct identification of cultivars [ 23 ].…”
