Its genetic transformation was accomplished using embryogenic calli or cell suspensions derived from immature embryos (Kuai et al 2001;Perret et al 2003;Somers et al 1992;Torbert et al 1995Torbert et al , 1998a, mature embryos (Kaeppler et al 2000;Torbert et al 1998b), leaf base segments (Gless et al 1998b), cultures from seeds , and shoot apical meristems (Cho et al 2003;Maqbool et al 2002;Zhang et al 1999).
