Bioassay guided fractionation of the ethanolic extract of Asphodelus microcarpus Salzm. et Viv. (Xanthorrhoeaceae or Asphodelaceae) resulted in isolation of five compounds identified as asphodosides A-E (1–5). Compounds 2–4 showed activity against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) with IC50 values of 1.62, 7.0 and 9.0 μg/mL, respectively. They also exhibited activity against Staphylococcus aureus (non-MRSA) with IC50 values of 1.0, 3.4 and 2.2 μg/mL, respectively. The structure elucidation of isolated metabolites was carried out using spectroscopic data (1D and 2D NMR), optical rotation and both experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD).

Transformation of Ri T-DNA Plasmid Agrobacterium rhizogenese to varieties Theobroma cacao variety TSH which is growing in west Sumatra and induction of hairy roots in order to produce bioflavonoid antioxidant compounds such as, catechin, polyfenol, or monomer and oligomer flavones was successfully obtained. Three spesies of A.rhizogenese (A4,LBA 9457 and ATTCC 15834) originaly from LIPI was used to transform Ri T-DNA plasmid in MS medium via cacao embryo culture. The aim of this paper is to determine the affectivity and ability of the three species of bacterial above to produce hairy roots in cacao invitro culture. The statistical methods RAL was uses with 4 time treatments and 6 time repeated experiments. As treatment was bacterial inoculation and without inoculation as a control. The transformation result shows 2 of 3 of bacterial species have ability to induce hairy roots of.T cacao embryos counting by percentages of explants with producing hairy roots 16.66% for A4, 83.33% for LBA 9547 spesies.qualitative test of polyfenol from hairy roots transformants give (+4) as compared to non transform only (+1). Cathechin compound was determined by spectrophotometer as much as 0.1% for non transform and 0.87 % for hairy roots transformants by LBA 9547. Transformed root cultures of Galphimia glauca (Malpighiaceae) were established by infecting cotyledons and hypocotyls with Agrobacterium rhizogenes ATCC 15 834. Cotyledon-derived cell lines were grown in liquid B5 nutrient medium without phytohormones and have shown the typical hairy roots phenotype over two years of continuous subculturing. PCR analysis was used to confirm the integration of rol A and rol C genes into the plant genome. The transformed cultures synthesized three major norfriedelanes, the new glaucacetalins A-C (1-3), which were secreted into the nutrient medium. The structural elucidation of these in vitro produced metabolites was performed by the application of high resolution NMR techniques that proved them to be triterpenoids related to the known galphimines, the sedative principles of this plant species. These results suggest the possibility of further biotechnological exploration of sedative friedelane biosynthesis by in vitro plant organ cultures.
