Genome-Wide Identification of ATG Gene Family Members in Fagopyrum tataricum and Their Expression during Stress Responses

Abstract: Abiotic stresses such as drought and salinity are major environmental factors limiting plant productivity. Autophagy-related genes are extensively involved in plant growth, development, and adverse stress responses, which have not yet been characterized in Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum, TB). In this study, we verified that drought stress could induce autophagy in TB roots. Next, 49 FtATGs in the whole genome of TB were identified. All FtATGs were randomly distributed in 8 known chromosomes, while 11 F… Show more

“…The most common P. frutescens varieties grown in the northwest region of China, such as Shanxi and other places, are primarily cultivated for oil production. However, field cultivation of P. frutescens in this region often faces challenges such as low temperature and drought stresses during the seedling and reproductive growth stages ( Fang et al, 2022 ; Zhao et al., 2021 ). Currently, there is a limited number of studies investigating the molecular mechanism of stress responses, substance synthesis, and metabolism regulation in P. frutescens .…”

“…Among them, the eight FtATG8 genes showed a high expression level under both salt and drought stresses. Also, all FtATG8 genes contained MYB-family transcription factors binding and light-responsive cis-acting elements, and strongly correlated with other stress-associated transcription factors, suggesting their vital role in stress resistance in buckwheat plants [ 108 ].…”
