Genome-Wide Identification of MATE Gene Family in Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) and Expression Analysis in Heavy Metal Stress

Abstract: A genome-wide identification and expression analysis of multidrug and toxic compound extrusion (MATE) gene family in potato was carried out to explore the response of MATE proteins to heavy meta stress. In this study, we identified 64 MATE genes from potato genome, which are located on 12 chromosomes, and are divided into I–IV subfamilies based on phylogenetic analysis. According to their order of appearance on the chromosomes, they were named from StMATE1–64. Subcellular location prediction showed that 98% of… Show more

“…Motif 3 and 6 were unique in clade IV and may be related to the specific function of clade IV. Similar phenomena were observed in the potato MATE gene family [ 47 ]. The GO enrichment results showed that MBD genes were mostly enriched in “methyl-CpG binding”, “nucleotide binding” and “nucleoside phosphate binding”, which was consistent with the known function of the MBD gene family.…”

“…MATEs utilize sodium ion or proton gradients as a driving force to execute the transportation. A number of MATE transporters were identified in different plants such as 58 genes in Arabidopsis thaliana and Populus trichocarpa, 57 in Vitis vinifera, 38 in Zea mays, 45 in Oryza sativa, 67 in Solanum lycopersicum, and citrus sinensis, 70 in Medicago truncatula 117 in glycin max and 64 genes in Solanum tuberosum L. (Das et al 2018;Tanaka et al 2017;Dos Santos et al 2017;Juliao et al 2020;Liu et al 2016;Huang et al 2021). Das et al (2018) reported reduction of As accumulation in rice grain by endosperm-specific silencing of endogenous OsMATE2.…”

“…After the 2000 bp sequence upstream of the transcription start site of StMTPs family members was extracted, and then the Plant CARE (http://bioinformatics.psb.ugent.be/ webtools/plantcare/html/, accessed on 13 September 2021) were used to predict the promoter cis-acting elements [63]. The heat map in TBtools was used to produce images of the gene promoters.…”
