Abstract: Genotyping and antibacterial resistance of Campylobacter spp strains isolated in children and in free range poultryPoultry is a main reservoir and source of human infection in campylobacteriosis. Three hundred and forty one stool samples (291 human, 50 avian) were analyzed. In the human group, 220 samples were collected from children with acute diarrheal disease (183 inpatients, 37 outpatients) and 71 from healthy children. Erythromycin and ciprofl oxacin agar dilution MIC tests, Penner serotyping and RAPD-PCR… Show more

“…In this study, the subtypes of C. jejuni isolates from broiler meat and bovine were characterized and compared to the subtypes of human clinical isolates, being this the first report on the molecular characterization of C. jejuni isolates where avian and bovine genotypes were found in human samples in Chile and one of the few studies conducted in South America that investigated the routes of transmission using molecular epidemiology (Ferna´ndez, 2011;Oberhelman et al, 2003;Rivera et al 2011).…”

“…Email: gighein@yahoo.es Studies in Denmark, Japan, and Finland provided substantial evidence for a genotypic link between C. jejuni isolates from humans with campylobacteriosis and those from poultry and bovine, by analyzing the PFGE patterns of the isolates (Ka¨renlampi et al 2011;Nakari, Hakkinen, & Siitonen, 2011;On, Nielsen, Engberg, & Madsen, 1998;Saito et al, 2005). A recent genotypic study by random amplification of polymorphic DNA polymerase chain reaction revealed that free range poultry genotypes were not found in human samples and that other reservoirs must be studied in Chile (Rivera et al, 2011).…”

“…termotolerantes corresponde a carnes y subproductos cárnicos crudos.
