Genotypic heterogeneity among strains ofMycoplasma gallinarum

Abstract: SUMMARYSeven field strains of Mycoplasma gallinarum isolated from chickens on three local farms and the type strain PG 16 were compared by restriction endomiclease DNA analysis using EcoRI, HindIII, BamHI, PstI and Xhol. The restriction patterns generated by the first four enzymes indicated considerable DNA polymorphisms among M. gallinarum strains. Field strains revealed 3 distinct patterns of the genomic DNA which differed from that of the PG 16 strain. BamHI enabled easy distinguishing between related and u… Show more

“…The most commonly used enzymes in this type of studies are EcoRI, HindIII, BamHI, BglII, KpnI, XhoI, PstI and HinfI. In Mycoplasma gallinarum the specific restriction patterns of different strains were used for epizootiological study revealing very subtile differences between related strains (Dovč et al, 1991). Additional resolution can be achieved by using advanced electrophoretic techniques for separation of DNA fragments.…”

“…The whole genomic DNA from M. gallisepticum strain $6 was isolated [18] and partially digested with EcoRI and BamHI restriction endonucleases. The obtained genomic fragments were ligated with the mixture of EcoRI, BamHI, and EcoRI/BamHI double digested vector pUC19.…”
