The article is a study of the conditions and distribution patterns of generation and accumulation hydrocarbon systems (GAHS) on the Sakhalin shelf of the sea of Okhotsk. A complex of geochemical studies was conducted for the evaluation of oil and gas source rocks generative capabilities and for the study of the organic matter geochemical parameters. The study included the determination of total organic carbon (TOC) in rocks, pyrolysis by Rock-Eval method, parameters (S1, S2, Tmax, HI, PI); bitumoid extraction from rock with subsequent determination of its group composition. Analysis of oil geochemical parameters by hydrocarbons-biomarkers for the purpose of determination genetic unity and maturity level of oil and gas source sequences was conducted. Using the method of capillary gas-liquid chromatography (GZhC), the analysis of n-alkanes and isoprenanes in paraffin-cycloparaffin (PCP) oil fractions was conducted. Method of chromato-mass spectrometry (ChMS) was utilized for a study of high-molecular hydrocarbons -biomarkers (steranes and terpanes). It was implemented using computer data processing under SIM regime with the recording ions m/z 217, 218 for steranes and diasteranes, m/z 191, 177 for terpanes. The separation of hydrocarbon organic matter was conducted in a capillary column with silicone phase HP-1ms. Chromatographing was implemented under temperature linear programming regime between 70 and 290 ο C at the rate of temperature increase 4ο/minutes. The carrier gas was helium. The study of geochemical parameters in the Paleogene-Neogene sediment complex indicates a sufficiently high corg content and its concentration increases down the section. Organic matter type in the sedimentary section often changes from humic to humic-sapropelic, the dominating type is humic (III). GAHS, elements and processes of these natural systems were modeled for the study of the formation environment and distribution patterns of generative-accumulative hydrocarbon systems and HC generation foci and their energy resources on the Sakhalin shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk utilizing techniques of basin modeling and Petro Mod (Schlumberger) software. Based on modeling results, 6 independent generation foci of oil and gas were identified on the Sakhalin shelf. Each of them could have independently generated hydrocarbon fluids for saturating nearby traps.

Background. The Anadyr depression has a marginal structure. It comprises four sub-regional elements. Disjunctive dislocations are widely developed within the area.Aim. To reconstruct the paleogeographic and litho-facies conditions of the formation of the Meso-Cenozoic sediments of the Anadyr depression. The reconstruction was performed by evaluating the initial data and developing paleogeographic and litho-facies maps. Data on the conditions of sediment formation in the study area, rich in hydrocarbon and mineral deposits, is essential from a practical standpoint.Materials and methods. Paleogeographic reconstructions of the Anadyr depression were performed based on an analysis of the sediment thickness and litho-facies composition of the relevant age. To build litho-facies maps, we used the data on the material composition of the Bering Sea sedimentary cover and adjacent areas, including well-drilling data, outcropping descriptions, thickness gradient analysis, seismic study results, etc.Results. In the course of the work, sedimentary environment maps were created. Litho-facies maps were developed for all four main sedimentary complexes of the Anadyr depression. Based on the generalised geological data and paleoreconstructions, we constructed forecasting schemes of the distribution of barrier formations in the study area.Conclusions. It was found that the formation of the sedimentary cover of the Anadyr depression took place mainly in shallow-water sedimentary environments. In addition, the depths of paleobasins did not overpass the internal relatively shallow marine shelf. Based on the analysis, two most probable reservoirs were selected. Regional fluid and potential seals were characterised.

On the basis of the performed 2D modeling, the authors established the main spatiotemporal regularities of the development of the processes of generation, migration and accumulation of hydrocarbon fluids in the platform part of the Eastern Ciscaucasia. The modeling results showed the saturation with hydrocarbons of the terrigenous strata of the Anisian and Landian stages, terrigenous sediments of the Middle Jurassic, Lower Cretaceous, as well as a single saturation of carbonates of the Upper Cretaceous and Lower Maikop, probably associated with the development of areas of abnormally high reservoir pressures. The degree of rock saturation is relatively high and reaches 80% for the sandy strata of the Middle Jurassic. For carbonate-terrigenous sediments of the Middle Triassic, saturation varies from 45-65%.
