Abstract: The increasing demand for energy and global commitment to reduce CO2 emissions to mitigate climate change has spurred countries to pursue unconventional hydrocarbon generation for power production. The investigation of the carbonaceous shale from the Permian Mikambeni Formation of the Tuli Basin in South Africa aims to assess the potential for gas generation.
