Abstract: Tendo as suas origens ligadas às obras civis, a Geologia de Engenharia e a Geotecnia são ramos do conhecimento que só recentemente começaram a ser aplicados à Engenharia de Minas, carecendo ainda de metodologias proprias, mais adequadas à realidade da indústria extrativa.
