Geological and geophysical interpretation of induced-polarization data on gold depoits in the Yana–Kolyma orogenic belt

Abstract: This paper presents induced-polarization (IP) data on a number of gold deposits and occurrences in the Magadan Region. Geophysical works are effective for the study of gold-quartz deposits of different morphological types (vein, veinlet-vein, and veinlet-disseminated). It is shown that multifrequency IP sounding reliably identifies zones of carbon metasomatism, a reliable indicator of promising gold mineralization areas and zones in northeastern Russia. Evidence of carbon metasomatism is the typical shape of p… Show more

“…The voltage does not return to zero instantaneously and decays slowly, indicating that charge has been stored in the rocks. In simple terms, the IP effect reflects the degree to which the rock/soil can store electric charge when an electric current passes through it in a manner analogous to a leak capacitor (Dobrin Lise 1998; Kiberu, 2002;Martinez-Moreno et al 2013;Chabaane et al 2017a;Besser et al 2017;Tkachev et al 2017).…”

“…The rough strike and depth of the mineralization belt were delineated and the anomaly section with low resistivity and high chargeability was considered a prospective area. Tkachev A. V. [8] conducted IP soundings to identify the metasomatic belt of carbon in a gold deposit. Only an metallogenic environment was detected in relation to gold without identifying the mineralization concentration.…”
