Geological Characteristics of Lower Paleozoic Shale Gas Accumulation in the Yuxi Region, Southern Sichuan Basin: In View of High-Density Methane Inclusions

Abstract: Twelve shale fracture veins and forty-nine fluid inclusion assemblages within the veins of 3800–4200 m in three wells located in different tectonic zones in the Yuxi Region, southern Sichuan Basin were selected in this study. The burial and thermal histories of single wells were reconstructed, and time–temperature–pressure of oil and gas filling were clarified using microscopy observation, Raman microprobe analyses, geochemical tests, and fluid inclusion microtemperature measurement. The shale fracture veins o… Show more

“…2 The essence of large-diameter pressure relief drilling produces an effective compensation space for the expansion and deformation of the surrounding rock after drilling, which can effectively reduce the peak value of the supporting stress of the surrounding rock around the roadway and reduce the scope of the plastic zone of the surrounding rock in the roadway. Cui 3 studied the geological characteristics of high-density gas burial and derived the time–temperature–pressure relationship of gas in fractured rock mass. Qian 4 studied the relationship between the gas content of rock gas and lithology and systematically characterized the pore characteristics of rocks based on XRD.…”
