“…At the same time, the consideration of lanthanide-containing materials cannot be restricted only by their luminescent properties. The possibility of using lanthanide compounds with simple and complex anions as paramagnetic, catalytic, scintillation and solid oxide-fuel materials are being increasingly investigated [41][42][43][44][45][46]. The present study is aimed at the samarium oxysulfatesynthesis in the high-temperature oxidative process and exploration of their structural, thermal and spectroscopic properties.…”

“…Some of them also involve a transition metal, producing bimetallic compounds, such as Ln 2 Ti 2 S 2 O 5 and LnCrOS 2 (Ln = La-Lu) [3][4][5] , but also LaInOS 2 and La 5 In 3 S 9 O 3 . 6 Ln 2 O 2 S nanoparticles have been extensively studied and characterized for their promising magnetic [7][8][9] , photocatalytic 8 and luminescent properties 10,11 . In the latter case, most studied compounds are La 2 O 2 S, [12][13][14][15] Gd 2 O 2 S [16][17][18][19][20][21] and Y 2 O 2 S, [22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30] , especially with rare-earth doping (Eu III , Tb III , Yb III The synthesis of oxysulfide nanoparticles is challenging, as rare-earth metals have a better affinity with O 2than S 2according to the Hard and Soft Acid and Bases (HSAB) theory.…”

“…Ballestracci et al studied the Ln 2 O 2 S bulk compounds by neutron diffraction and estimated the Néel temperature ( T N ) of Gd 2 O 2 S to be 5.7 K. In the paramagnetic phase, its Curie–Weiss temperature ( T CW ) is –18 K. The magnetic moment of Gd atoms (7.92 µ B ) was very close to these of the isolated paramagnetic ion (7.94 µ B ). In 2014, Biondo et al revisited the properties of Ln 2 O 2 S oxysulfides (Ln = Sm, Eu, Gd) . In the case of Gd 2 O 2 S, the reported properties are close to those of Ballestracci et al, i.e.…”
