“…The manipulations at the ossicular chain and performance of micro-CT scans were described previously (5). In brief, each specimen was scanned 3 times with the SkyScan 1172 (SkyScan, Kontich, Belgium) micro-CT scanner (at a tube voltage of 80 kV, a current of 100 HA, and with the Al 0.5 mm filter) before interrupting the ossicular chain, after removal of the incus, and after additional removal of the malleus head.…”

“…The removal of incus and malleus head as well as the performance of micro-CT scans were described previously [11]. For the present study, each specimen was scanned three times with the SkyScan 1172 (SkyScan, Kontich, Belgium) micro-CT scanner (at a tube voltage of 80 kV, a current of 100 lA, and with the Al 0.5 mm filter): after removal of incus, after additional removal of the malleus head, and after approaching the umbo to the promontory.…”

“…Additionally, the scanning layer thickness can reach the micron level. This method can be used to segment and measure the tissue well under the condition of clearly preserving the internal structures of the sample, simplifying and increasing the accuracy of measuring tissue structures (12) .…”
