Abstract:Seismic isolation is a method of protecting buildings from earthquake-induced deformations by using isolators and devices under the superstructure. The purpose of the seismic isolation method is to reduce the earthquake forces transferred from the ground to the structure by placing energy-absorbing elements between the foundation and superstructure. Especially in developing countries, the "Geotechnical Seismic Isolation (GSI)" system has been proposed as an isolation method to reduce earthquake-induced damages… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
