Abstract

This study aimed to determine Neutrophil gelatinase-associated Lipocalin (NGAL), Kidney Injury Molecule-1 (KIM-1), Cystatin C (Cyc-c), and Interleukin-18 (IL-18) levels are frequently used as kidney biomarkers in geriatric rats and compared with the levels in young rats. Along with this aim, 12 geriatric Wistar albino rats (30-36 months old) (six males and six females) and 12 (2-3 months old) (six males and six females) Wistar albino rats were used which reared in the same standard physiological conditions that have not been exposed to any study before. 24-hour urine samples of all groups were collected, and blood was drawn under anesthesia for biochemical analysis.
