This study aimed to determine relationships for the effect of light (between 3 and 7 MJ/m 2 per day) and temperature (between 12°C and 28°C) on some developmental and fruiting parameters such as days to first flowering (FD, days), flower bud number/plant (FBN/P), fruit number/plant (FN/P), mean fresh fruit weight/plant (MFFW/P, g), fruit growth period (FGP, days), and total yield/plant (TY/P, g) of eggplant (Solanum melongena) grown in greenhouses. All parameters except days to flowering and fruit growth period showed a sharp curvilinear response to temperature at all light intensities, with lower values either side of an optimum temperature. Days to flowering showed little response to temperature at 7 MJ/m 2 per day of light but decreased with temperature at 3 MJ/m 2 per day. Optimum temperature for each attribute increased with increasing light intensity except for flower bud number. FD, FN/P, and TY/P showed a slight curvilinear response to light intensity at all temperatures except that days to flowering and fruit number per plant showed a sharp curvilinear decline at higher temperatures. FBN/P and MFFW/P showed a sharp linear response to light intensity at lower temperatures and a slight curvilinear response at higher temperatures. At all temperatures, FGP was a sharp linear function of light intensity. The derived relationships provide the potential for optimising growth and fruiting of eggplant in greenhouses, but need to be validated under commercial conditions.

ÖZET: Bu çalışmada farklı dikim sistemlerinin (standart masura, beşik masura ve düze dikim) açıkta organik olarak yetiştirilen Sümela F1 domates çeşidinin büyüme, gelişme, erkencilik ve hasat süresi üzerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Genel olarak gövde çapı (mm), bitki boyu (cm), yapraklanma hızı (adet gün -1 ), salkım oluşma hızı (salkım gün -1 ), çiçeklenme hızı (çiçek gün -1 ), ilk meyve tutumu, ilk hasat, son hasat ve hasat süresi değerleri masura tipi uygulamalarında, düze dikimden daha yüksek bulunmuştur (P˂0.01). En yüksek salkım oluşma hızı (0.17 salkım gün -1 ), yapraklanma hızı (0.35 adet gün -1 ), hasat süresi (81.2 gün) değerleri beşik masura uygulamasından elde edilmiştir. Farklı dikim sistemlerinin bitki büyüme ve gelişme parametreleri üzerine önemli etkileri olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Büyüme, çeltik kavuzu kompostu, gelişme, dikim sistemi ABSTRACT: The present study was carried out to determine the effects of different planting systems (standard raised bed, gable raised bed, flat planting) on growth, development, earliness and harvest period parameters of Sümela F1 tomatoes organically grown in the field. The plants grown and development in raised beds had a higher (P˂0.01) stem diameter (mm), plant height (cm), leaf appearance rate (number day -1 ), raceme formation rate (cluster day -1 ), flowering rate (flower day -1 ), first fruit set, first harvest, last harvest, duration of harvest than flat planting. The highest raceme formation rate (0.17 cluster day -1 ), leaf appearance rate (0.35 number day -1 ), duration of harvest (81.2 day) were obtained from gable raised bed. It was concluded that raised beds (standard and gable raised beds) could have significant effects on the growth and development parameters of tomatoes.
