Previous studies shows that in Agriophyllum squarrosum no seed innate dormancy existed (Wang et al, 1998;Li et al, 2006), light has negative effects on the germination (Zheng et al, 2003(Zheng et al, , 2004Tobe et al, 1999Tobe et al, , 2005, alternating temperature is needed to ensure a good germination (Tobe et al, 2005), seeds collected from 0-10-cm soil germinate better than those form deeper soil (Bai et al, 2004), and germination percentage drops rapidly when water potential reaches À0.5 MPa (Tobe et al, 2005). Attention on Artemisia halodendron has also risen (Li et al, 2005a(Li et al, , 2005bSu et al, 2005;Wang and Zhou, 1999;Zhou, 1999), but information on its germination is very limited.…”
