RESUMO:A gagueira é um distúrbio de fluência que compromete a produção do fluxo da fala, gerando rupturas que ocorrem involuntariamente. Por ser ocasionado pela dificuldade na temporalização dos movimentos articulatórios motores necessários à produção da fala, muitas contribuições sobre o comportamento laríngeo e dos articuladores podem ser obtidas mediante a análise das características acústicas nos indivíduos que gaguejam A análise acústica, por sua vez, pode avaliar o comportamento laríngeo e articulatório (supralaríngeo) de pessoas que gaguejam, auxiliando na caracterização dessa fala. O mais instigante nessa análise é compreender a influência dos processos de controle motor para a fala disfluente subjacente. Dessa forma, no presente artigo faremos uma revisão literária sobre os aspectos acústicos, articulatórios e perceptivoauditivo encontrados em pessoas que gaguejam. Diversos estudos centraram-se na pesquisa de comparação entre os indivíduos fluentes e os que possuem a disfluência atípica como também, na caracterização de particularidades das pessoas que gaguejam, nos mostrando a grande contribuição da análise acústica nos diversos modos de investigação. As pesquisas que abordam a análise perceptiva auditiva não se baseiam na teoria fonética e utilizam protocolos fonoaudiológicos como a escala GRBASI. Sendo assim, mostra-se relevante a realização de investigações que se baseiam na perspectiva fonética-acústica, articulatória e perceptiva para analisar a fala dos indivíduos gagos, a fim de compreendermos melhor esse distúrbio. PALAVRAS-CHAVE:Gagueira. Linguística. Acústica. ABSTRACT:Stuttering is a fluency disorder that compromises the production of speech flow, generating ruptures that occur involuntarily. Because it is caused by the difficulty in the necessary temporalization of the motor articulatory movements for speech production, many contributions on laryngeal and articulatory behavior can be obtained by analyzing the acoustic characteristics in this population. Acoustic analysis, in turn, can evaluate the laryngeal and articulatory (supralaryngeal) behavior of stutterers, helping to characterize this speech. The most instigating in this analysis is to understand the influence of motor control processes on the underlying disfluent speech. Thus, in this article we will do a literary review on the acoustic, articulatory and auditory perceptions found in people who stutter. Several studies have focused on the comparison between fluent individuals and the ones with atypical disfluency, as well as characterization of particularities of the studied sample, showing us the great contribution of acoustic analysis in the different ways of investigation. The researches that deal with auditory perceptual analysis are not based on phonetic theory and use phono audiological protocols such as the GRBASI scale. .Herrmann@Sheffield.ac.uk Psycholinguistic research of the mid nineties suggests that articulatory routines for high frequency syllables are stored in the form of gestural scores in a library. Syllable frequency effects on naming latency and utterance duration have been interpreted as supporting evidence for such a syllabary. This paper presents a data-subset from a project investigating speech motor learning as a function of syllable type. Fourteen native speakers of English were asked to listen to and repeat 16 mono-syllabic stimuli which belonged to either of two categories: high & low frequency syllables (CELEX). Acoustic coarticulation measures, i.e. F2 locus equations and absolute formant changes, were used to indirectly determine the degree of gestural overlap in articulatory movements. In addition, utterance durations were measured to determine speed of articulation. Significant syllable frequency effects were found for both F2 Locus equations (e.g. slope and R²), and utterance duration. High frequency syllables exhibited greater degrees of coarticulation (steeper slopes), greater overall consistency in their production (greater R²) and shorter utterance durations than low frequency syllables. These data provide some further supporting evidence that different syllable categories may be encoded differently during speech production.
