Getting Better Intestinal Health through the Addition of Yeast (Saccharomyces Cerevisiae) Combined with Threonine in Broilers Diets

Abstract: The aim was to evaluate the association of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Sc) with Threonine (T) Ratio. Results: BW and TW increased and AFW decreased in D3 and D4 groups (p ≤ 0.05) Weight (BW) (g), Thigh Weight (TW) (g) and Abdominal Fat Weight (AFW) (g). In gut were measured: Villus Height (VH) (µ), Crypt Depth (CD) (µ) and VH/CD . In gut, all groups received T decreased VH/CD

“…The changes in the microstructure of the intestine, particularly in its mucosa, may modify the assimilation of nutrients, changing host metabolism and energy production. It could affect the efficiency of nutrient utilization and therefore, growth, development, feed conversion, important parameters of poultry industry (Huygebaert et al, 2011;Allen et al, 2013;Peralta et al, 2016Peralta et al, , 20172018bGaddet et al, 2017). Inside the gut, the intestinal epithelium is in contact with the microbiota and antigens that are important for the immunity development.…”

“…This important increase in CD value in T2 was reflected in better HV / CD ratio. The enhanced in VH values is related to mature intestinal epithelium, with a significative increase in absorptive function because contains higher absorption area (Brummer et al, 2010;Peralta et al, 2018b penetrate gut, increasing the cell replacement (Peralta et al, 2018b;Kim & Lillehoj, 2019;Kogut, 2019).…”

“…Concurrently, the rising need for sustainable agroecological models has emerged to preserve the environment aligning with “one health” concept where the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the environment influences each other. As a result, avian nutrition research is now focused on exploring natural additives that can serve as alternatives to antibiotics as growth promoters ( Peralta et al., 2018b ; Destoumieux-Garzón et al., 2018 ; Mackenzie & Jeggo, 2019 ). Among natural additives, S is a phytobiotic compound with a good perspective to achieve this purpose, although the subjacent mechanism associated with the positive effects on performance productivity is not known yet.…”

“…These different results may be due to SM presentation (leaves or extract) that contained different steviosides/rebaudiosides percentages and/or other bioactive compounds present in SM or ES. In addition, SM compounds can change according to each plant, selected part phytogenic used (leaf orthe entire plant), geographical origin, harvesting season, environmental factors, storage conditions, and processing techniques ( Peralta et al., 2018b ). Probably, the tendency toward better IC could register in broilers receiving 42-45 days of SM on diets.…”
