Giant magnons and spiky strings in the Schrödinger/dipole-deformed CFT correspondence

Abstract: We construct semi-classical string solutions of the Schrödinger Sch 5 ×S 5 spacetime, which is conjectured to be the gravity dual of a non-local dipole-deformed CFT. They are the counterparts of the giant magnon and spiky string solutions of the undeformed AdS 5 × S 5 to which they flow when the deformation parameter is turned off. They live in an S 3 subspace of the five-sphere along the directions of which the B-field has non-zero components, having also extent in the Sch 5 part of the metric. Finally, we sp… Show more

“…This pp-wave background admits 16 Killing spinors and the spectrum of its bosonic excitations was derived. Compelling agreement with the dispersion relation of the giant magnons in the original Schrödinger spacetime obtained previously in [30] was found. This fact led to a conjecture of the exact, in the t'Hooft coupling, dispersion relation of the magnons in the original Schrödinger background.…”

“…We should stress that the aforementioned operators correspond to point-like strings propagating on the Sch 5 ×S 5 spacetime. Extended dyonic giant magnon and spike solutions and their dispersion relations were found for the first time in [30]. 3 Their existence is in complete agreement with the fact that the deformation does not destroy the integrability of the parent N = 4 SYM.…”

“…
We study string theory on the pp-wave geometry obtained by taking the Penrose limit around a certain null geodesic of the non-supersymmetric Schrödinger background. We solve for the spectrum of bosonic excitations and find compelling agreement with the dispersion relation of the giant magnons in the Schrödinger background obtained previously in [47]. Inspired by the pp-wave spectrum we conjecture an exact in the t'Hooft coupling dispersion relation for the magnons in the original Schrödinger background.

“…It is important to stress that all these operators correspond to point-like strings propagating in the Sch 5 × S 5 background. Extended dyonic giant magnon and spike solutions and their dispersion relations were found in [47]. 2 Their existence is in complete agreement with the fact that the theory remains integrable.…”
