A review of fifty Russian environmental geoservices implemented using open source software by governmental and commercial scientific organizations, universities and individuals has been carried out. The role of geoservices in the implementation of interdisciplinary cooperation between various research groups and presentation of environmental projects’ results is shown. Geoservices are organized according to their application and associated with the Unified System of State Environmental Monitoring (USSEM). Functional capabilities of geoservices and the open source libraries used for their implementation are described. Remote sensing data, thematic geospatial products, location of environmental research objects, etc. available through the geoservices were presented. Review results can be useful to researchers in life and Earth sciences when choosing technologies for creating a geoservice and searching for geospatial data for various subsystems of environmental monitoring.
