‘Giving’ and ‘Making’ in Early Runic Epigraphy

Abstract: A survey of the early Germanic etymological semantics of ‘giving’ and ‘making’ is presented in light of the recent reaffirmation that early Nordic *taujan is etymologically related to Old Norse tœja ‘grant, bestow, help, assist’.
