“…Although numerous researchers conducted studies in the Indian context, only three studies (Kaur & Jindal, 2009; Sharma & Sehrawat, 2014; Thapar & Sharma, 2017) were conducted in the state of northern India, that is, Punjab, which did not use any standardized scale to identify the presence of glass ceiling. Additionally, none of the quantitative study accessible on glass ceiling included more than two industries of the Indian service sector, as Kaur and Jindal (2009), and Sharma and Sharma (2015) studied two industries, while Bhatt and Fukey (2014); Nilufer and Priyadarshini (2018); Sachdeva (2014); Srinivasan, Murty, and Nakra (2013); and Wesarat and Methew (2017) covered one industry only. Though the concept of work engagement and glass ceiling has been studied separately, more research is required for an exhaustive exploration of both the variables and examine their relationship further (Lee, Kwon, Kim, & Cho, 2016) since work engagement is strongly tied to an employee’s career.…”
