Glass-fibre-reinforced Composites of Phosphorus-containing Epoxy Resin Systems

Abstract: Epoxy systems composed of conventional (DGEBA), tetrajunctional (TGBATC) and phosphorylated (HTAPPO) epoxy resins were used for the fabrication of glass-fibre-reinforced composites using aromatic diamines (DDM and DDS) as curing agents. The fabricated composites were evaluated for their limiting oxygen index, mechanical properties, dielectric properties and chemical resistance. The incorporation of an epoxy fortifier showed significant improvement in mechanical properties.
